Banana bread for an easy mid-week bake. If you're looking for something quick and easy to make at home this week I can recommend this to you; recipe at my link in bio. I hope you're all having a good week so far.

Fossil hunting on Charmouth beach. This was a good day.

Lyme Regis. Is there anywhere better than the Jurassic Coast on a sunny day? Where's your favourite British spot in the sunshine? I'm pretty torn between Sussex and Dorset actually...and Devon, and Cornwall, and the Cotswolds, and Yorkshire....hmm... Have a lovely weekend all, the temperature is set to plummet again...

Happy memories of days with family in East Sussex filling my mind today.

It's a glorious day outside, hurrah! Definitely getting excited for summer outings and long walks. This is Asthall Manor, childhood home of the Mitford sisters. A beautiful place, buried away in the Oxfordshire countryside. Blissful.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful women who are Mums! I'm lucky enough to be spending the day in Dorset with my own brilliant Mum, and my dear Granny. I baked a good old fashioned Victoria Sandwich cake to mark the occasion; recipe at link in bio. If you're a Mum, I hope you are looked after and spoiled today, as you deserve to be.

Happy Friday, everyone. Well, it would be, if I wasn't stuck in bed with the heaviest cold and cough I can remember having (and there's a lot to choose from...). I tend to get ill a lot now, and I am thoroughly sick of it, especially when it has me up at 2.45am unable to breathe properly... I'm having to take today off work and am feeling a bit sorry for myself... do you have any home remedies you swear by when you're ill? It's usually honey and lemon drink here, but I've ended up doing everything: gargling with salt water (yum), throat spray, vapour rub, de-congestents. It's just getting worse and I really don't want it to morph in to a chest infection...anyway, enough of my whingeing. I hope you all have a lovely day. We're meant to be seeing family this weekend, which I was so looking forward to. Just hope I'm well enough to go!

Happy International Women's Day! We've come a long way, but there is still a lot more to do until we have equality for women. But we'll get there. Onwards!

Anyone else craving fresh sea air to blow away the cobwebs? I love winter but even I am now ready for spring days and long walks. I hope you're having a lovely week.

Salt, sea and sky. We had a wonderful day in Whitstable yesterday with our lovely old neighbours. Delicious food, blustery walks by the coast, cosy drinks in a seaside pub, and a complete change of scene. It was almost enough of a tonic to shake off my heavy cold. What a wonderful place. I hope you all had a great Saturday too.

Good morning everyone, I hope you've all had a lovely week and have been taking care in the snow and on the ice. My husband took a tumble this week: nothing much hurt beyond his pride, but it's easily done, so be careful! I can't believe we're in March - and spring, ha! - already. The year is flying by, but the weather is playing havoc with the seasons. The poor birds mustn't know what to make of it all. I hope you have lovely weekends: we're visiting our wonderful old neighbours at their new home in Whitstable. I'm really looking forward to a trip to the coast, and we can't wait to see them again. I hope you have a good time out in the snow too. Happy Friday!

Anybody else rather stay in bed today? I was off work ill yesterday and am still a bit wobbly, but need to plough on today. I hope you're all wrapping up warm! No snow here today, but a beautiful blue sky- a lovely consolation!

Well, what a glorious weekend that was- perfect winter weather; sunny, cold and crisp. I hope you're all wrapped up warm against the cold this week though, it's going to be bitter out there. Here's a picture of a gorgeous cottage where we stayed in the Cotswolds- a nice reminder that it will, eventually, get warm again! Have a good week, all.

I wish I could stay like this with Margot and Jerry in bed all day. Happy Sunday, all.

"The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts,
All on a summer's day;
The Knave of Hearts
He stole those tarts,
And took them clean away." Well, it certainly isn't a summer's day, and I'm not the Queen of Hearts, but I did have some plums going over in the fruit bowl, so I made some tarts with a frangipane filling and a ground almond pastry base. Recipe at my link in bio. A perfect tea time treat, or a nice pudding course for a dinner party. Happy baking!

Aaaannnddd relax! The weekend is here. Phew. It's been a busy week here, and I'm shattered. We've got family visiting this weekend, so no outings to the country for us, but I'm looking forward to spending time with our nephew :) what do you have planned? Have a good one, whatever you're up to. Fingers crossed for sunshine!

Anybody else wishing they could be at the coast today? Nothing like the smell and taste of sea air, sand underfoot, and the wind through your hair. I used to live much nearer to the beach growing up, I do miss it.

How is it Monday already?! I hope you all had nice weekends. It's another busy week at work ahead here, before family visit us this weekend. Have a lovely week, everyone.

Our lovely day out yesterday, and the fine weather, has got me planning our day trips for summer. One place we've agreed we must go back to a lot this year is Great Dixter; one of my absolute favourite places, and the home of the late gardening genius Christopher Lloyd. The mediaeval house was remodelled with significant additions by Edwin Lutyens in 1910-12, and sits nestled in the High Weald in East Sussex. A glorious place. Today though, I'm making a big pan of stew, then we're off to church. Are you planning your spring and summer days out yet?
