Client: I'm starting to feel more confident in myself but sometimes when I look in the mirror and say nice things to myself I feel conceited and then I feel kinda bad. Me: Does the idea of you being a conceited person bother you? Client: Yeah...I don't know...I just feel SO VAIN! *Giggles with a little shame in her tone* Me: Go Google the words conceited and vain right now. Client: *Googles*...OMG...they are actually NOT bad things! Me: Mmmhmm....what does it say? Client: "Conceited; Excessively proud of oneself; vain"...."Vain; having or showing an excessively high opinion of one's appearance, abilities, or WORTH." Me: Crazy right? How people are afraid to LOVE THEMSELVES excessively, be excessively proud of themselves, excessively value themselves, and have excessively high opinions of themselves because there's an engraved belief somewhere that they don't want to come off vain or conceited? Because vain and conceited are associated with shame in society, when IN FACT, the words conceited and vain are just another way of saying "YOU LOVE YOURSELF EXCESSIVELY."...and there is nothing wrong with that. If being conceited and vain is wrong then I don't wanna be right. 😂 P.S: Listen babe, DO NOT let society's beliefs and stigmas run your life. When you start stepping into your power there are gonna be old screwed up beliefs that come up for you and try to test you. Most times those beliefs will be attached to 25% guilt, 25% shame, and 50% fear. They HAVE to come up for you to show you where further work and clearing need to happen. These feelings that come up for you are only helping you to step into your most powerful self. We need to be challenged. Our new truths need to be challenged. That's what makes us stronger. If your new affirmations were never challenged then how would you ever learn to stand in conviction by them? 6 ♡ 1 ✍ March 22
